If you have historic debts that are preventing an otherwise viable business from moving forward a Company Voluntary Arrangement (CVA) may be the route forward. A CVA is a formal insolvency process by which a company can come to an arrangement to pay old debt, whilst continuing to trade, and so allow the company to survive. A CVA allows  the directors retain control over the company and interest on the debt is frozen.
